In honor of my wonderful sweetie, Ruby ( and her brother Austin), i designed this necklace for those of us who are lucky enough to have a dog or two light up our lives every day. My sweet Ruby passed away after a tough and heart-wrenching battle with bone cancer. She was my companion and love-dog until the day she died. On that day she was still following me around, barking at the mail carrier and being her strong and loving self. Her and I even took a rare nap together on our couch that day. I’ll never forget her sweet face and how she would put her arm around me when I hugged her, or how she would lay at my feet in my office, no matter how late I was up working.
Thankfully, her brother Austin is still here with us, being goofy as ever.
“Dogs are not your whole life…but they make your life whole”. I can’t remember where I heard this saying, but I have never forgotten it since it rings so true. People that don’t have dogs sometimes have a hard time underst and ing the love and devotion us dog-lovers show towards our little family members. I could never quite explain it myself until I heard this saying. They make our lives whole! And when they’re gone, there is a piece of us gone with them.
Great post. I love taking time out of my workday to read some blogs about animals. Always nice to find some useful information in between all the fluff LOL (no pun intended :-))
Hi Ada,
Yes we have one boxer (Austin) and our Ruby was a boxer-rottie mix. we think. She did look like a coonhound, especially the red hair. She was beautfiul – people used to stop us in the street to tell us how pretty she was and to ask what kind of dog she was. I never thought of the Coonhound possibility, they are very cute. Enjoy your pups!!

I was just looking through your blog and saw the photos of your dogs. I too am a dog lover and
life just wouldn’t be the same without them. I’m curious, one of your dogs looks like a Boxer….is the
other a redbone coonhound? S/he looks very familiar to my male dog, Foster who is a redbone. Daisy, our female
dog is a treeing walker coonhound. She looks like a very tall beagle.
Looking forward to seeing my necklace in person….your website is wonderful!
Best regards!
I just ordered a necklace from you and I decided to take a quick look at your blog.
The story about Ruby brought tears to my eyes. Dogs really do light up our days and Boxers, make them even brighter!
We have two Boxers and I dread the day that one of them gets sick and passes away. I hear Boxers are unlucky
w/cancer, but we just cross our finges and hope they live long lives. I love the necklace and the messages is so
true!!
