Chunky is the New Black

We here in our studio have been playing around with lots of new materials and ideas this summer, and have decided that chunky is definitely the new black.

I’ve always loved substantial jewelry – not necessarily huge charms but materials that have substance, that you can feel when you hold them and wear them. This is why I’ve always, since day one of my business, used thicker metals for charms whenever possible.

Stamping on thicker charms just looks better, and keeps customers coming back for more quality hand stamped jewelry.

Our new “Chunky Resting Hearts Necklace” takes charm thickness a step further by being what can only be described as “chunky”, and beautiful of course! Jewelry like this can make a statement with or without personalization. The copper metal we use comes out in this gorgeous hue of orange-brown. You really have to see it in person to fully appreciate it, it is just so pretty.

The small silver heart is made of solid fine silver. Both hearts are handmade here in our California studio. Check out the video below to see for yourself how substantial and pretty these charms are!

What to get Dad this Father’s Day?

Gift ideas for dad! We all need them. Here are some of our latest designs created for those Dads and Grandpas out there. We had a few husband ‘s input on these, so we hope you like them!

Our hand stamped cuff links are for the guy who occasionally gets dressed up, and wants to wear something meaningful while doing it! These are solid sterling silver and will keep your man looking stylish.

Monogram key ring personalized — Square Monogrammed Key Ring

Our Square Monogrammed Key Ring can be personalized on the back, too. It’s a solid sterling silver square with your hubby’s initials, hanging from a solid sterling silver key ring. Sweet.

Our Personalized Money Clips are solid sterling silver and are beautiful. You can have initials put on them, h and -stamped words or names, or your children’s h and writing!

And last but not least, we have our Handwriting/Artwork Military Dog Tags. These are one of my favorite pieces, as I wanted to offer the handwriting option on something masculine, and this fits the bill. You can get this on a long ball chain, or as a key ring. Gift Ideas for Grandma (vol. 2)

So Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I am getting more and more requests for great gift ideas for Grandma! I recently posted “Gift Ideas for Grandma, volume 1.” So here is volume 2!

For the Grandma who is very stylish but with a funky flair to her style, I would suggest our hand stamped Thai Circles of Affection. These charms are handmade in Thailand out of fine silver (99.9% silver) and have a heavy weight to them. They look great with one or two charms or 7-8 bundled together. They are a little shiny but with a handmade look, which give them a trendy but funky flair.

If Grandma prefers daintier jewelry and loves bracelets, our Inspiration Cuff would be a stylish and unique choice. These cuffs are found throughout the internet, but I haven’t found anyone else who will actually stamp what you want onto the cuff! We will do just that — anything from a favorite saying you and Grandma might have together, to the names of all her grand kids. We can add tiny little symbols to this bracelet as well, to make it even more personal.

Our Sterling Circles Charm Bracelet is another great piece of bragging jewelry – Grandma (or mom!) can wear it simply w/one name charm and a simple birthstone, or with many charms and stones as her family grows.

If she likes unique jewelry, our Etched Moon Circle of Love Necklace would be a great choice. This charm has a raised moon in the center of the charm, with “I love you to the moon and back” stamped around the edge of the charm. You can add her grand kid’s names to the back of this charm, too!

Pewter – a great option for hand stamped jewelry

Pewter is a cool metal. It’s durable, pretty and easy to work with. It looks really pretty when hand stamped, too, as the rich silver color of the metal mixes so nicely with the blackened letters or symbols. We’ve recently been creating items made with pewter and plan to add a few of these to our site. On top of how great it looks and how easy it is to work with, it’s also less expensive than other metals like sterling silver or fine silver.

Pewter has been used for centuries for jewelry and other decorative items. In the last few years, as the price of silver skyrocketed, the popularity of pewter surged as a more affordable alternative to silver for jewelry. Modern pewter is, of course, lead-free and sustainable.

Pewter is a white, lustrous alloy, with a look similar to silver, and it’s easy to work with. We look forward to offering some of these pieces to our Heart On Your Wrist customers!
