New Hand Stamped Sister Necklaces

Matching Sister Necklaces
Carry My Heart Sister Necklaces

I am lucky to have a sister.  She has always been and always will be my best friend.  I don’t know if this is automatically true with all sisters (I’m guessing not) but most of the sisters I do know share a similar bond.  And it’s a bond that lasts a lifetime, which is more than I can ask for.

We had these two sweet little girls come into the shop that wanted to wear matching necklaces, to tell the world they were lucky too.  We decided we would create some charms that would allow two people to wear matching necklaces, but to have them just slightly different.  We played around with a few ideas but then came up with these little heart cut-outs that act as puzzle pieces when put together.  When two people wear these charms, they know that their necklaces ‘fit together’ so it’s like carrying a little piece of that person’s heart with you everywhere you go.

These were of course, perfect for the two sisters who came into the shop. They are now proudly wearing their matching necklaces while on their summer vacation!

H and stamped sister necklacesWearing these little necklaces serve as a pretty reminder that your sister is always there for you.  They would also be nice as Mother-Daughter Necklaces, or they could both say BFF for two close friends.  There are lots of possibilities.  I just love the fine silver and how the pink pearls go with the brushed silver.  The h and stamped words look so pretty under the hearts.  Enjoy!

Our $1000 Scholarship Winner is…

We have finally chosen the winner for our $1000 scholarship, where entrants answered the question, “What innovative ways do you see social media changing the way people buy jewelry?”

After reading through a couple hundred entries and narrowing it down to the top eleven finalists, we selected Bianca Palumbo of Melrose, MA.  Bianca recently graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, MA.  We loved the energy in her essay as well as her creative ideas on how to use social media to promote a jewelry business.

BiancaCongratulations to Bianca!  We are very excited for her.  Thank you all for the many entries, it was an incredible experience to read so many great ideas from so many interesting kids across the country.  Good luck to you all!

Our Scholarship Update

Last November, we decided to do something a little different and offer up a $1000 scholarship to one talented high school or college student.  We know how expensive college is and how difficult it can be for someone to follow their dreams when there’s a high price tag on them.  We wanted to encourage kids to continue on with their education and we love to hear from people interested in starting their own businesses some day.

Our criteria was pretty simple, you just needed to be a current high school student planning to go to college, or be a current college student.  We asked entrants to answer this question: “What innovative ways do you see social media changing the way people buy jewelry?”

We love how social media has opened up so many avenues to get the word out about our personalized jewelry, and we wanted to hear from up- and -coming entrepreneurs and business people about what opportunities they think social media offers companies like ours.  And wow, did we get some great responses!  A lot of the kids were very creative and thoughtful about the different social media opportunities out there right now.  We saw some ideas for new apps or services that we hope will be developed some day, maybe even by one of these talented kids!

We had a very difficult time narrowing down our list but managed to create a list of our top eleven finalists.  The winner will be chosen later today, June 18, and once we verify that all the requirements for the application have been fulfilled by the winner, we will post the winner’s name on our website, on Facebook and here on our blog!

The top eleven finalists for the Heart On Your Wrist $1000 scholarship are (in no particular order):

  1. Samantha Sadwin of Blackstone, MA
  2. Nia Civil of Middle Island , NY
  3. Morgan Goldhammer of Hartford, WI
  4. Brandi Henry of Boyertown, PA
  5. Ella Podrez of Washougal, WA
  6. Amanda Spang of Glendale, NY
  7. Kelsey Niaz of Minnetonka, MN
  8. Hannah Michael of Saint Helena, CA
  9. Kathleen McAuliffe of Tinley Park, IL
  10. Bianco Palumbo of Melrose, MA
  11. Nicolas Nespoli of Tucson, AZ

We so enjoyed this whole process and hearing from all these wonderful kids.  Out of the hundreds of entries submitted, it was really hard to choose the finalists and now the winner.  We appreciated each and every person who took the time and effort to enter.  You are all wonderfully talented people and we look forward to seeing all the things you will do in the future!

Necklace of the Month for June

H and stamped heart necklace

Our necklace of the month this month features a handmade fine silver heart charm, hand stamped with the letters XOXO, hanging with a Swarovski pearl on a sterling silver chain.  I love this necklace!

We love making hearts of all shapes and sizes.  When we came up with this shape in the studio, we all loved it and couldn’t wait to stamp it.  The fine silver is so easy to work with and to stamp.  We add a brushed finish to it, to give it a matte look and the little pearl just compliments this so nicely.

This necklace is on sale too, for the rest of this month!  Enjoy!
